Malachi 4
1. "For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud,
yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn
them up,'' says the Lord of hosts, "that will leave them neither root nor branch.
2. But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing
in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves.
NKJV
These verses are found at the beginning of the last chapter of the Old Testament.
Put another way, these are the final words of the binding agreement, or covenant,
God made with the people of Israel.
After the Prophet Malachi wrote these words, there were 400 years of silence from
God, before God began once more to reach out to the people of Israel and all other
people in the earth, based on a new and better binding agreement which we call the New Testament.
Why was God silent for 400 years?
It was because His people had taken His words for granted and were not bothering
to line up their lives with the terms of the Old Agreement.
The 400 years of silence was meant by God to create a hunger within His people for hearing His word again.
What about you?
Have you found that God has become silent in your life?
Has He become hard for you to find?
Consider the words of the Lord Jesus:
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be filled.
Matthew 5 : 6 NKJV
Prayer:
Father, I ask that from this vital day onward, You will create such a hunger and
thirst in me for You and Your way of life, that I will allow You to fill me up.
Please fill all in me today that You can fill, and then continue getting rid of
whatever stands in Your way, so that my life can be completely filled with Your beauty of character and Your glory,
in Jesus' name,
Amen.
